Time to adopt
Meet Lola! I am currently fostering, rehabilitating and training her for the humane society. She is a 3 year old German Shepherd that spent her whole life secluded from the world. Her owners surrendered her to Nassau County Animal Services. On her surrender sheet it says she is scared and barks, also stays alone for up to 18 hours a day. Clearly not a good start to life especially for a Shepherd. Shepherds must be socialized and exposed to people, places, animals and other dogs if you want to raise a well rounded one without fear aggression issues. Well Lola had fear aggression. The humane society had to corral her from one end of the pen to the other in order to clean it. She showed signs that she would bite so they had to be very careful. Lola was there for two weeks and still no one could touch her. I walked in and asked to pull her out. They granted me that and handed over the leash. Lola's demeanor changed and she was able to relax a little. I knew then she needed to leave that place in order to thrive. I took her home as a foster and the rehabilitation process began! Lola has spent a little over two months with my family and my pack including a countless number of other dogs. She took a good bit of time adjusting but that's part of it. She has come so far in a short amount of time. Her personality shines now and she is so happy. She is very comfortable with her people and will except any stranger or dog that comes in . Now without her people she will not be friendly to strangers. She is not a protection dog but would possibly scare away a stranger with that bark and her teeth. Nothing wrong with that. She loves water and sticks! She has learned what the dog life is all about. She also loves to chase her tail to get your attention or even just because she is purely happy at the moment. She chases bugs for a hobby and if you say "Load up" she knows exactly where to go.... Your vehicle! This girl absolutely loves to go places with her people. She is ready to experience the world with you and her new found confidence. If you are interesting in adopting Lola contact me and we will set up a time to meet. Bring your whole family including your other fur baby if you have one. She will be excited to have a forever home !!
